How Much Does a Website Cost in 2026?

A custom website built by a US agency costs $25,000 to $250,000 in 2026. At Lucky Media, projects start at $25k. The price goes up with the size of the site, the industry, and whether the site needs a new design.

This guide is for teams that need a custom site on a modern stack, such as Next.js or Astro with a headless CMS. A website builder or a template costs much less, and for many small businesses it is the right choice. All prices are in USD and come from our own projects and from vendor pricing pages, as of October 2026.

Large site, redesign or migration

Up to $250k

Many templates and content types, integrations, several languages, or a strict industry.

Most projects run 12 to 16 weeks. With a hard deadline, we add people and compress the work to 4 to 6 weeks, as described in our process.

What drives website development cost

Three things move the price more than anything else.

Size of the site

Size is the number of page templates, content types and components, not only the page count. Ten pages built from two templates cost less than ten pages that each need their own layout. Every template needs design, build, CMS fields and tests.

Your industry

Healthcare, finance and security companies often need extra review rounds, accessibility work, security checks and approvals before launch. That work takes time, so it adds cost. A simple B2B marketing site has fewer of these steps.

Redesign or rebuild

A rebuild that keeps your current design costs less than a project that also needs a new design. Many of our projects are migrations: the site moves off WordPress, Webflow or old custom code to a faster stack, and the design stays the same or changes a little.

Other cost drivers

  • Content migration: moving posts, pages and media, and mapping every old URL to a new one with 301 redirects. Our headless CMS migration guide shows the steps.

  • Integrations: CRM and marketing forms, analytics, search, payments or a customer login.

  • Languages: each extra locale adds content work and tests.

  • Deadline: a hard launch date means more people on the project at the same time.

What drives website development cost

Website redesign cost

A website redesign costs the same $25k to $250k range as a new build, because most redesigns rebuild the site. The lower half of the range fits a 1:1 rebuild that keeps the design. The upper half fits a new design on a new platform, with a large content migration.

Three examples from our projects:

  • Flow Digital had spent $40k on a Webflow site with more than 50 bugs. We rebuilt it 1:1 on Astro and Sanity. Lighthouse Best Practices went from 69 to 100.

  • Chainguard got a full rebuild on Contentful and Next.js in 30 days.

  • Duende went live on Astro and Sanity in 46 days, even though the designs arrived 3 weeks late.

If you are not sure what your current site needs, start with a code audit. It costs $5k to $10k at a fixed price and gives you a roadmap and a realistic budget before you commit to a redesign.

Running costs after launch

The build is a one-time cost. After launch, you pay for hosting, the CMS license, and any new work. These are list prices from each vendor, as of October 2026:

Item

Price

Details

Hosting on Vercel Pro

$20 per month

Platform fee with 1 deploying seat and $20 usage credit. See Vercel pricing.

Statamic Pro

$349 per site, one time

Then $99 per year for updates. See Statamic pricing.

Sanity Growth

$15 per seat per month

Free plan for small teams. See Sanity pricing.

Storyblok Growth

$99 per month

$90.75 per month billed yearly. See Storyblok pricing.

Contentful Lite

$300 per month

Enterprise plans are priced by sales. See Contentful pricing.

The right stack can also lower these costs. MyBodyTutor pays 80% less for hosting after its move to Statamic, and data.world saves $120k a year after its rebuild.

For new pages, features and fixes after launch, most clients use a development retainer. We price it by days worked, for the whole team: design, frontend, backend, project management and QA. We give you the price on a call.

How to get an accurate website quote

A good quote needs a scope, not a page count. Before you talk to an agency, write down:

  • The page templates you need, and an example page for each.

  • Who edits the site, and how often they publish.

  • The tools the site connects to, such as your CRM, analytics or search.

  • Your current platform, and how many pages and posts must move.

  • Your launch date, and if it is fixed.

After a strategy session with us, you get a written scope and price before any work starts. Our contact form asks for a budget of $25k+, $50k+ or $100k+, so we can tell you on the first call if your plan fits.

FAQ

How much does a 10 page website cost?

A custom 10 page website usually sits at the low end of the range. Our Astro cost guide puts a static site at $25k to $40k, and $30k to $60k with a headless CMS. The number of unique templates changes the price more than the page count.

How much does it cost to design a website?

Designing a custom website typically costs between $15k and $100k. The biggest factor is whether a rebrand is involved: if your logo, visual identity, and brand guidelines need to be created or reworked first, the design phase grows considerably before any page design begins.

How much does a website redesign cost?

A redesign by a US agency costs $25k to $250k, the same range as a new build, because most redesigns rebuild the site. Size, industry and the amount of new design set the price. A code audit for $5k to $10k gives you a budget before you commit.

How long does it take to build a website?

Most of our website projects take 12 to 16 weeks. With a hard deadline, we add people and finish in 4 to 6 weeks. We rebuilt Chainguard's website in 30 days.

How much does a website cost per month?

After launch you pay for hosting, the CMS license and any new work. Vercel Pro hosting starts at $20 a month. CMS plans go from free to $300 a month on Contentful Lite, and enterprise plans are quoted by each vendor.

Why does an agency website cost more than a website builder?

An agency builds custom code that you own, with a CMS set up for your marketing team, and it moves your content without a loss of rankings. A website builder rents you a template on its platform. For a small business with a simple site, a builder is often enough.
